Chagall

After months of planning, last week my mother and i finally visited Tudeley church in Kent. Its a small unassuming church in a very discreet setting, but the most amazing thing about it, is that all of its stained glass windows were created by Marc Chagall.

He was commissioned to create 12 windows by Sir Henry and Lady d'Avigdor-Goldsmid after their daughter died in a sailing accident in Rye. When first entering the church you are met by an overwhelming sense of calm and peace, Chagalls signature blue surrounds you. The main window and focal piece of the church shows the girl drowning. She is cradled by the water and surrounded by a weeping figure and angels.
