Props!

I've only just spotted these props i made a few weeks ago in the shop today! Simply made from cardboard and painted with acrylics, these props add something to photos showing the clothes in all their glory. There is even a youtube video to show the behind the scenes too.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAcMERueNqQ

Halloween window display

I'm a manager of a childrens shop and between all of the stores we were asked to create a halloween window. There was only one rule, it had to include a mannequin wearing a new black t-shirt and tutu. Oh, and it wasn't allowed to be gory! From the moment the competition was set, we talked endlessly about ideas and created a sketch revolving around the main tree back drop and a rabbit dressed as a witch flying across the moon. We all painted and assembled the cardboard, using the masses of boxes we get in daily deliveries to the shop, a very eco friendly window! Well done to my wonderful team for putting it all together xx

I have a logo for my etsy shop..! Now i need to get a move on and actually print some art work.. I aim to be finished by Saturday, otherwise i won't be allowed to attend a special lunch.

Brünnhilde Sleeps

I absolutely adore Brünnhilde Sleeps by Anselm Kiefer.

From the Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History:

'Near the end of Wagner’s second opera of the Ring cycle, Die Walküre (The Valkyrie), the Valkyrie Brünnhilde, having attempted to help the sibling lovers Siegmund and Sieglinde against their fathers’ wishes, is punished for her betrayal. Wotan puts her to sleep and surrounds her with a ring of fire (she will be awakened in turn by her nephew Siegfried, the incestuous son of Siegmund and Sieglinde, in the third opera of the cycle).

Kiefer portrays the dormant Brünnhilde as French actress Catherine Deneuve in François Truffaut’s film Mississippi Mermaid, using a photograph he snapped in a movie house in 1969. In the film, Deneuve plays a deceitful mail-order bride who comes to the island of Réunion to marry a plantation owner, played by Jean-Paul Belmondo. Aside from the parallels of love and betrayal in both the Ring Cycle and Truffaut’s film, Kiefer thought the choice of Deneuve for Brünnhilde both ironic and amusing: she was for him “the contrary of Brünnhilde. Very slim, very French, very cool, very sexy,” hinting that no man would go through fire to obtain Wagner’s corpulent, armored Valkyrie.'
