Monogram

The Alphabet of Monograms, by Henry Lillie is a beautiful little book showing monogram designs. Published by Day & son of London in 1865, the leather cover has a very ornate gold stamping which sets the precedent for the rest of the book. Over 26 pages it shows examples of extremely detailed one, two and three colour monograms, it's aim to show customers and hand engravers what design was possible.

Clare Owen

I love my blog - i just get to post lots of pretty things. These works are by Clare Owen, i saw the first image at Pick Me Up show too, it's just so delicate and perfect. Great typography too!

Lizzy Stuart

I've just found a little scrap of paper with a few very important names i wrote down at the Pick Me Up exhibition at Somerset House. One of them was Lizzy Stuart. She is an illustrator studying in London and has a wonderful way of mixing hand drawn images with colourful marks. I especially love the bear with a floral frame around it! i want one.

Mockingbird

Just finished this.. It may be used on a set for a tv production, my brief was literature.

'Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.'
