Shanna Murray

These wall decals are SO adorable. I love the simplicity between the handwriting and the leaf patterns, they seem to balance out each other perfectly.

Shanna Murray lives in new york and has an abundance of fans. The work she creates is full of affectionate sayings for 'the love of her life, Chuck'.

Freelance.

It's official, I have made my leap of faith and I'm now a freelance illustrator.

Last week i left my full time job to pursue my dream and actually be able to draw and create. To say thank you and show everyone in my shop how much they mean to me, i made individual cards with their own handwritten initial. Each card has a different background colour behind the white foliage pattern.

Available on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/105813050/personalised-initial-leaf-pattern

Wish me luck..!

Picasso Prints: The Vollard Suite

I recently went to the British Museum to see the collection of etchings by Picasso. There were over 100 intaglio prints spanning from 1930 to 1937, a time when Picasso was involved in a passionate affair with his muse Marie-Thérèse Walter, who features quite a lot.

There is a definite focus on classical sculpture, but i was drawn to the darker etchings of Minotaur. In classical mythology this fierce creature with a bull's head and a human body, was trapped in a labyrinth by the King of Crete. Later slain by the Athenian prince Theseus. In the 1930's, many surrealists depicted this beast as it represented irrational and suppressed instincts. The Minotaur can be seen throughout many etchings, as if to reflect Picasso's challenging personality.

So interesting to see his more simple linear work.
